I want to let everyone know about the four fantastic lineups we have for the PASIC evening concerts. Live music has been less present in our lives for the past 18 months, and we are excited to be bringing some outstanding acts for your enjoyment. 

VIBRAPHONE CELEBRATION 
Wednesday, Nov. 10
Kicking off PASIC 2021 will be the 100th Anniversary of the Vibraphone Celebration Concert. The vibraphone got its start in Indianapolis, just a few miles away from where Stefon Harris, Joe Locke, Jason Marsalis, and Warren Wolf will be performing. These four illustrious vibe players have diverse backgrounds and performance styles, and we look forward to hearing them each play solo pieces as well as together as a group, showcasing the vibraphone’s extensive tradition in the jazz world.

W.I.M. TRIO
Thursday, Nov. 11
On Thursday evening, check out the W.I.M. Trio featuring Tommy Igoe. The W.I.M. Trio is a collaboration between three San Francisco musicians: Tommy Igoe on drums, Kevin Wong on keyboard, and Ben Misterka on guitar. Recently formed as a group, but with decades of experience behind them, you’ll enjoy the groove-based tunes, all composed and arranged collaboratively by the band. If you need more, Tommy will be leading a drum set clinic the next day, Friday, at 5:00 p.m. in Ballroom 500.

SANDBOX PERCUSSION
Friday, Nov. 12
Swinging us over to the contemporary percussion chamber-music genre is our Friday night concert. Sandbox Percussion, composed of percussionists Ian David Rosenbaum, Jonny Allen, Terry Sweeney, and Victor Caccese, will perform Andy Akiho’s “Seven Pillars” — a collaboration between Akiho and Sandbox that represents the longest piece Akiho has composed and Sandbox has commissioned. Featuring both ensemble and solo movements for all four percussionists, the piece has accompanying films for each movement and demonstrates the highly collaborative nature of this piece’s creation, as well as the art that results when different artistic disciplines pair with each other. You’ll notice the musicians using typical percussion instruments along with, as is the tradition in our percussion field, less typically found sounds such as pipes and bottles.

ROBERT GLASPER TRIO 
Saturday, Nov. 13
For the close of PASIC 2021, we have the Robert Glasper Trio. Pianist Glasper will be joined by Damion Reed on drums and Vicente Archer on bass. Robert Glasper is known for his piano playing that melds jazz, hip-hop, R&B, and rock & roll, as well as exploring both acoustic- and electric-focused ensembles. Get ready for exciting original compositions and unique covers as we sit back and chill, thinking about the great music, clinics, gear, and friendly conversations we’ve experienced over the past four days.

LOCATION and TIMES
Evening concerts are held in the Sagamore Ballroom at the Indiana Convention Center, with Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday night’s performances starting at 8:00 p.m. On Saturday night, it’s the same location, but make note of the earlier 5:30 start time as we close out what is sure to be a great PASIC 2021.
