PAS is proud to once again sponsor the 7th annual Hit Like A Girl Contest, which officially opened for submissions yesterday, March 1st and will run through April 11th, 2018. The 2018 theme, "Break Through," will feature Drumset, World, Marching, Concert, and Technology Categories.
2017 marked the first time that 3 winners were invited to perform at PASIC during the annual Hit Like A Girl Showcase Concert. Marching Percussion Champion Anastasiya “AJ” Kostromina, under 18 popular vote winner Annapurna “AP” Tobler, and over 18 Champion Elisa "Helly" Montin each performed solo and then shared the stage for an unforgettable and inspiring performance. PAS is excited to host the 2018 winners once again at PASIC 2018 in Indianapolis, IN, November 14-17.

Now entering its seventh year, the 2018 edition of the Hit Like A Girl international drum contest promises to build on the success and growing popularity of the program to expand the public awareness of the female drummers and grow the female drumming community. The 2018 theme, “Break Through”, is an acknowledgement of the progress already made in shattering barriers and stereotypes as well as a call to action aimed at empowering more women and girls to become players.
Hit Like A Girl, in conjunction with Beats By Girlz, has added a new "Rhythm Technology" category to the 2018 contest. Sponsored by Ableton, ROLI, Sensel and Sweetwater, the category is open to female music programmers and sound engineers. Special judges include BBG founder Erin Barra-Jean, Emmy Award-winning sound engineer Paula Fairfield (Game of Thrones) and other top female music producers. Along with the main (international) Hit Like A Girl female drumming contest and regional events in Mexico, France and the UK, this year marks the addition of a special HLAG contest in China.
