Percussive Arts Society Receives Grant from The NAMM Foundation

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - 7/6/17 — The Percussive Arts Society has been named a grant recipient of The NAMM Foundation. PAS was selected as one of 24 organizations to receive a grant to fund vital programs that create and support access to musical instruction and that serve to inspire a lifelong love of making music in its population.

The Percussive Arts Society will utilize the resources as a means to support the its  Find Your Rhythm! community outreach program. Find Your Rhythm! is offered to school groups, families and senior communities. The NAMM Foundation grant will help grow and support the largest component of Find Your Rhythm!, the school guided program, designed to introduce at least 1,000 students to the fundamentals of music in a fun, non-threatening environment.

Find Your Rhythm! is a free program targeted to school districts that serve economically disadvantaged students and/or where student test scores are disproportionately low.  Rhythm! staff create partnerships with educators in each target school district to promote the benefits of this guided music making experience. Find Your Rhythm! will benefit students by inspiring them to explore the joy of music and to encourage student participation in creating music making activities.

Since its inception in 1994, The NAMM Foundation’s annual grant program has donated more than $16 million in support to domestic and international music education programs, scientific research, advocacy and public service programs related to music making.  The grants are funded in part by donations from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) and its 10,300 member companies worldwide.
